Opening Act

The Rock Academy of Asheville is thrilled to present the newest program, with our ‘OPENING ACT ‘ year round classes. These 1 hour weekly classes are aimed at students ages 7 to 12 who are new to their instruments or new to playing in a band. The classes will offer a chance to work with others of the same age group who are aspiring to be involved in Rock Academy.

Students in the Opening Act will learn how to set up and use equipment, steps to learning and arranging songs, how to rehearse effectively and efficiently, and how to prepare for live performances. If you have always wanted to play in a rock band, but are just getting started, this is the class for you! This is also a year round program.

Tim is a 23-year veteran of the guitar and holds degrees from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and Indiana State University. He has worked as a professional performer and music educator in Austin, Texas, and throughout the Midwest for the past fifteen years. Tim is also an active composer, and recorded and produced a CD of original compositions for guitar in 2009.
